Apr 13,  · I don't think that the High Llamas restricted their influences to just Brian Wilson. I have the Gideon Gaye album and the track 'Checking In, Checking Out' has always struck me as sounding like a great lost Steely Dan song. It would fit perfectly on 'Pretzel Logic', as it is reminiscent of 'With A Gun' without getting anywhere near plagiary.

The High Llamas. The High Llamas are a London-based musical group, formed by the Irish guitarist and songwriter Sean O'Hagan after the demise of his group Microdisney. O'Hagan writes and arranges the music and the rest of the group consists of drummer Rob Allum, keyboardist/cellist Marcus Holdaway, and ex-Microdisney bassist Jon Fell.

Stereolab's Lætitia Sadier and Mary Hansen lent their vocals to 's Snowbug, and Hansen sung harmony vocals on O'Hagan's subsequent efforts, 's eight-song album Buzzle Bee and 's Beet, Maize & Corn, that saw the High Llamas progress in a largely acoustic, drumless direction. A two-disc retrospective compilation was released later.
